Much like fellow G.O.O.D Music signees CyHi The Prynce and Big Sean, the newest addition to the team made an instant impression on Kanye West. Fontana, Calilfornia born producer Hit-Boy is the first beatsmith to sign with the expanding label. Churning out Ye’s official holiday tune “Christmas In Harlem” in late 2010, the 23-year-old has taken his relationship with Chi-town’s musical genius to the next frontier. VIBE courted the young maestro for the story behind his entranance to hip-hop’s all-star team.

VIBE.com: You finally signed to G.O.O.D Music, huh [Laughs]?

Hit-Boy: Yeah, man it’s definitely official. We’ve got a lot of things going with Kanye West right now. Just be on the lookout. I’m a part of the production team, so I’ll be working on various projects over there, pretty much everybody from Cudi to ‘Ye to Big Sean—everybody.

Was this something that was in the works for a while?

Yeah, it actually has been. It’s been in the works for three months, since “Christmas in Harlem.” We just had to get the business right and it finally came together. I signed a couple of weeks ago.

What were your first thoughts when ‘Ye officially asked you to come join the team and roll with him?

It was a dream come true. It’s Kanye West! It’s crazy. It ain’t really hit me until I actually had went to work. We worked side by side—making beats together and coming up with ideas —with the beats I was making and the beats that I already had. He’s a person I had said I admire so much.

Pusha talked about having more access to artists and producers after signing with G.O.O.D Music, do you feel the same way?

Well, I already built a name for myself and my brand Surf Club and I just feel like with this situation, the sky is the limit really. I can go beyond. These dudes, they don’t really mess with too many people and for them to embrace me and accept me the way that they have been is crazy to me.
