Waka Flocka Flame Says He's Crafting Rap Skills On "Ferrari Boyz"

Exclusive: The Brick Squad 1017 member says there never really was a creative disagreement with partner Gucci Mane.


 
As one of the biggest new faces in Hip Hop, Waka Flocka Flame has controversially dismissed lyricism. However, during a Ferrari Boyz listening session this past week in Atlanta, Georgia, Waka admitted that he's trying to improve at his craft.

The August 9 album with Brick Squad 1017 head Gucci Mane was reportedly made in two weeks time. The Warner Brothers Records sensation reveals that despite some months not working together, to pair had no disputes in terms of making the album their fans asked for.

HipHopDX: What are you hoping to accomplish with Ferrari Boyz?

Waka Flocka Flame: I’m crafting my Rap skills. [Laughs]
DX: I thought you didn’t care about all that [lyrical content]. [laughs]

Waka Flocka Flame: I don’t care about it. I’m crafting it.

DX: Okay, but what was it that moved in you to make you want to craft your Rap skills?

Waka Flocka Flame: If I’m rapping, I should want to develop a craft and get better right?

DX: So you’re saying you don’t put extra pressure on yourself but you’re crafting as you go along?

DJ Drama Talks About The Drake & Gucci Mane Mixape That Almost Happened

Have there been other tapes behind the scenes you’ve talked about doing that never happened?

Yeah, one of the hottest tapes that never happened would’ve been the Drake and Gucci [Mane] tape. The three of us had spoke about it at a period. It was going to be a Drake and Gucci Gangsta Grillz. The two songs that had both of ‘em on it – I think one of them had Killer Mike on it [“Street Cred” off Guccimerica] and the other one was Sean Garrett’s “In My Business.” It was around that time period when the tape was supposed to happen.

Another tape that was supposed to happen was the Outkast tape. They called me, I think before the Idlewild album, and was like we want to do a Gangsta Grillz before the album. Of course, I was like, “definitely.” It didn’t wind up happening. They got kind of busy and it got close to the album. That’s when the guys called me like, “look, we’re not going to be able to do the tape, but we got you on a song for the album.” That’s two big tapes that almost could’ve would’ve should’ve happened.

This Drake and Gucci Mane tape would’ve had a lot of potential. Were you the one who brought the two together to possibly do the tape?
Nah, Drake called me one day like, “Yo, I got this idea. Gucci is like my favorite rapper right now, and I want to do a tape together.” I called him to see if he was with it. I got Gucci on the phone, the three of us talked about it and I know they were sending records back and forth. At the time, the buzz on both of them was so crazy. I mean, at that time we talked about, they were two of the hottest niggas in the game. I think schedules just didn’t permit. - Read The Full Interview Here

The day just got a lot hotter. Former G.O.O.D. Music frontman Consequence held his word and today launched a war against Kanye West and his army. In what's expected to be the first of many attacks, on his first try Cons puts the spotlight directly on the labels latest signee, lyrical monster Pusha-T. On the track titled "The Plagurist Society" Cons questions Pusha's coke-dealing raps while reminding the VA hustler that he comes from the land of the elite weight movers, the notorious Supreme Team. Consequence saves the best for last towards the end of the record when the Queens native promises to take aim at West on the next go round.
A few months back Consequence sat down with RapFix Live and revealed his issues at hand with West, his cousin Q-Tip and the rest of the G.O.O.D. Music clan.
"As a man, you can't hang your fate on no other man, but when you think the man is your brother and you talk about every other single situation known to man, you would think it would dawn on somebody to say, 'Hey, let me make sure this all right, let me make sure my guy is good.' If I'm not your guy, that's fine; let's just have clarity on it."
For the most part Kanye has remained silent adressing the litany of Consequence's gripes with him. G.O.O.D. Music artist CyHi The Prynce recently spoke out following his former labelmates accusations directed at his boss.
"I can't really speak on Consequence, 'cause I don't know the agreements they had," CyHi said on "RapFix Live." "They had their relationship before I came along, so I don't have no problem with him. That's my guy."
